What is StartMyBiz (SMB) and GrowMyBiz (GMB)?
StartMyBiz and GrowMyBiz is a partnership of various organisations in the Canterbury district including Kent County Council, University of Kent, Canterbury Christchurch University, Canterbury College and Canterbury for Business which is co-ordinated by the Business and Regeneration team at Canterbury City Council. The team is committed to supporting local entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses into successful enterprises which contribute to making the district an exciting, fun and interesting place to live, work and visit.
At StartMyBiz we offer personal and friendly support to point you in the right direction when it comes to starting your own business.
When you’re ready to grow your start-up into a majorly successful business, GrowMyBiz can guide you through the available options such as finding new business partners, franchising, selling online, increasing your product range, product licensing and expanding into new domestic and global markets.
What resources do we have to help your business?
As a non-profit organisation, we work for you. Our growing network of business experts, workshops, seminars and mentors will help you get your business started or help you grow your already established business. How will my business benefit from joining our community?
The vast majority of our events are free and where we can’t provide them for free they are subsidised to make them as affordable as possible for you. You will be connected to hundreds of other entrepreneurs in the local area who all support one another through our network. You can also take advantage of the Advice Forum for specialist advice from experienced business people in the local community who can offer expert advice on how to write a business plan or how to plan your growth strategy.

What is the Business Support Directory?
Our Business Support Directory helps you search more quickly and efficiently for the information that is most valuable and relevant to you by filtering and categorising online business information, schemes and initiatives to help you grow your business.
What is the mentoring service?
Mentors are entrepreneurs or successful business people with extensive business knowledge and practical experience in growing a business, who can provide you with invaluable advice to make your own business journey easier, faster and more profitable. What is Boot Camp?
Our annual Boot Camp is a week-long event held over Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) incorporating workshops, seminars, networking events and the infamous Pitching Den. It’s carefully designed to help you focus on your business goals and work out a clear plan to achieve them. You can attend all the events or just choose a few that you feel are most relevant to succeeding in your current business goals.
